UNFPA Delegation Visits the MHPSS Center in Ibb
Ibb, May 15, 2024 - A delegation from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) today visited the MHPSS Center in Ibb Governorate to learn about the progress of the project, the challenges it faces, and some recommendations for improving the services provided.
The delegation included UNFPA Yemen's RH Programme Coordinator, Mr. Ndundula Robert, GBV Programme Coordinator Mr. Farid Gul, Emergency response specialist Mr. Ghamdan Mufareh, and RH programme coordinator Ibb hub Mr. Hussam Qasim.
During the visit, the delegation toured the center, met with the project staff, and listened to a detailed explanation of the services provided to beneficiaries, including psychological counseling, psychosocial support, life skills training, and programs to combat gender-based violence.
The delegation also met with a number of beneficiaries of the project and listened to their testimonies about the impact of the services on their lives. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the support they have received through the project and described how it has helped them improve their mental health and strengthen their ability to cope with the challenges they face.
The UNFPA Yemen delegation praised the efforts of the center's management and staff in providing high-quality services to beneficiaries. They also reaffirmed UNFPA's commitment to supporting the project and enhancing its services to meet the needs of women and girls in Yemen.
It is worth noting that the project has been funded by UNFPA since 2021 and aims to contribute to promoting mental health and psychosocial support for women and girls in Yemen.
